Capello has obviously seen something in the 19-year-old to have played him in central midfield again. Missed a great chance but showed glimpses of real class in the engine room. Starting to look a certainty for the Euro squad.

Gareth Barry: 7/10

So nearly made a goalscoring return to the starting XI — the head of Daniel Majstorovic got the final touch. Kept things ticking over nicely and his midfield team-mates looked happy to have his experience alongside them.

Jack Rodwell: 7/10

Followed up his debut against Spain with his first start. Came close to opening his account with a header that hit the post and gradually grew into the game. Looks capable and comfortable at this level.
