But any hostility towards Terry could be grossly unfair if he is an innocent man, and it might be considered fairer simply to remove him from the firing line.

Terry is certainly under fire, with a ‘recording’ that claims to be the England captain racially abusing someone during a phone call resurfacing on YouTube and circulating on Twitter. The FA were unaware of the recording and Chelsea and Terry’s representatives would strongly doubt its authenticity, although there was no official comment on Wednesday night.
