I want Terry and Rio! Hodgson will hold peace talks with England pair over race row
Posted Wednesday, May 02, 2012 by Dailymail

Roy Hodgson will talk to both John Terry and Rio Ferdinand in the hope of taking both players to the European Championship.

Hodgson's first task as England manager will be to try to heal a potentially massive rift in the dressing room that has developed since Terry was accused of racially abusing Ferdinand's brother Anton in October.

Terry has denied the allegation but faces trial in July for a racially aggravated public order offence.

Terry and Ferdinand remain the best defensive partnership available to Hodgson and at his unveiling at Wembley, the manager said: 'I'll have to get in touch with John and Rio to speak with them, hopefully face to face, and find out where they are in this situation.

'Until such time as I've spoken to them and found out where they stand in relation to the situation, it would be wrong of me to comment. And not just those two. I'll have to speak to as many senior players as I can.'

Hodgson, who also said he will select Wayne Rooney in a 23-man squad he intends to name shortly after the end of the season, has yet to decide his back-room staff, such has been his whirlwind England appointment.

But it is likely he will bring in at least one assistant, even though he has yet to talk to England Under 21 and GB Olympic coach Stuart Pearce about his involvement in Euro 2012.
