We're scarred: Fabio backs England kids to shed baggage of World Cup flop
Rock: Gary Cahill (right) has staked his claim for a place in defence

‘It was not about changing the shirt, the problem was up here,’ he said as he pointed to his head.  Capello felt there was a complete lack of confidence among some of the senior players.

‘Sometimes it is incredible to understand why,’ he said. ‘For 20 minutes we played well. So if you can do that for 20 minutes, why can’t you do the same for the rest of the game? This is what I don’t understand, why? I will talk with the players the next time we are together. We will speak about some things in the performance.

‘You can train well, respect everything I tell them, the players can be really good but when they are here at the game it is different.

‘I hope to find a solution.  I need to find that. In the World Cup qualification we never had a problem. We won 11 games on the trot and played well for a long time at home.’
