We're scarred: Fabio backs England kids to shed baggage of World Cup flop

‘I like to see the warm-up. Sometimes during the warm-up in my career I understood a lot of things about what will happen on the pitch.’

Asked to say on the record what he discovered, Capello said: ‘That is between the players and me.’

But, when quizzed on whether he knew the game would be difficult after Tuesday’s warm-up, he replied: ‘Yes, I knew.’
Pressed on the reason, he added: ‘I know, but that’s my job. I know the players.’

He said he found it ‘impossible’ to put the problem right in the dressing room, both before the game and at half-time.

‘I tried to do that, I tried,’ he said. ‘I spoke with the players and said things,  but it is impossible, with the things that I saw, to change.
