Ukraine chief takes swipe at England by accusing them of racism over Rio
Getting away from it: Ferdinand was on Sunday attending a concert while the England team were in action in Ukraine

‘I want to pay attention to the fact that sometimes it (racism) happens in a country like the one where football was born.

‘In England, the national team has not brought a player because of a conflict over racism  and I think it’s enough to focus ourselves on the most important things.’

Surkis’s comments came as UEFA announced that it is to investigate alleged racist chanting directed at Mario  Balotelli during the Spain-Italy game on  Sunday ‘following new independent information’ regarding that match and the Russia-Czech Republic game last Friday.

Surkis added: ‘There can be individual cases in our stadiums, but I don’t think that we should pay attention to these cases. We try to fight this racism thing, but the tournament has started and I don’t think that we should talk about racism in Ukraine.’
