We will not let the nation down, insists Hodgson on eve of England's Euro kick-off
Our striker? Danny Welbeck is in line to start

Hodgson will tell his players on Sunday night what his first competitive starting XI will be for England, with Danny Welbeck, up front, and Stewart Downing, wide left, expected to be selected in the two most-debated positions.

Hodgson says he has already made his choice and is willing to risk the team leaking out by letting the players know so that they can mentally prepare for the task in hand.

‘If you tell them the night before the game, as I think you should because I don’t think it’s good to wait until the day of the game, you have to understand that in today’s world the opposing coach will get up in the morning and read exactly how you’re going to play,’ he said.
