How to beat the French? England must defend like Chelsea and set Walcott free
All smiles: Hodgson has been urged to use Theo Walcott by old friend Lagerback

'That's the base. Then you can counter-attack, that's a really good way to play against France. If they can use, for instance, Theo Walcott, in a good position, then that's a good possibility.

'It depends on how Roy wants to play the game, if he wants to  dominate or not. You can make a team difficult to beat, you saw the way Chelsea played against Bayern Munich.

'I know Roy very well, I've known him since 1976 when he started at Halmstads. I met him a lot. He's a fine manager.

'You saw in his first game - I've not seen England so well organised for many years. If they play like that, they have a good chance to beat France. I think it will be very tight. I think the team with the best attitude and organisation will win that game.'
