Barry blow for England as Manchester City midfielder is ruled out of Euros
Bad start: England boss Roy Hodgson has lost midfielder Barry to injury

'I'm really pleased for Jags,' said Moyes. 'I was disappointed he was only on the stand-by list because I thought he'd bring something different to the rest of the defenders.

'When I look at some of England's best performances, they've come when Jags has been involved.

The way he performed last season - certainly in the second half of it - merited a call-up to the original squad. I'm delighted he's in there at last.'

Jagielka, 29, missed the World Cup, two years ago, at the end of a season when he returned from a serious knee injury.

Uncapped teenager Jack Butland has been called up to replace Norwich goalkeeper Ruddy, who has been told by a specialist that his broken finger is not as bad as first feared. Like Barry, he will be out for a month and fit for pre-season.
