Hodgson said: 'We intended to play Scott for 45 minutes but we thought we'd give it another 15 minutes to test it to the full and he seemed to come through quite well. He wasn't at his sharpest yet, but you'd expect that not having played a game for four weeks.'

Manchester United defender Phil Jones was replaced by Liverpool's Martin Kelly, who made his England debut, although Hodgson said that was a precautionary measure because Jones's hamstring muscles had tightened.
