Gareth Barry's hopes of playing a key role in Euro 2012 are in jeopardy after the Manchester City midfielder limped off with a groin strain as Roy Hodgson recorded a 1-0 win over Norway in his first match as England manager.
Manchester United winger Ashley Young scored the only goal of the game in the ninth minute, as England recorded their first victory in the Norwegian capital since Sir Alf Ramsey's men won the World Cup in 1966.
Crocked: Barry will be sent for a scan after limping off injured in England's friendly win over Norway
But while Young was delighted with his fourth goal in consecutive games for England, Barry was fearing the worst.
He had come on as a half-time substitute in Oslo for Steven Gerrard but had to be withdrawn after 28 minutes of play.
The City midfielder said last night: 'I'll have a scan tomorrow but it doesn't look good.'
England boss Hodgson reiterated the concern. 'I'm not prepared to say Gareth's injury is serious at the moment. All I'm saying is it's going to demand our attention and we don't have a lot of time if the scan shows it is more than minor,' he said.
