FA act at last! Redknapp and Hodgson set for approach... but Fabio's mega wages will be slashed
Chance meeting: Redknapp (back right) was at QPR v Arsenal on Saturday along with FA Chairman David Bernstein (bottom left)

By then the four-man Club England board of David Bernstein, Alex Horne,  Sir Trevor Brooking and Adrian Bevington would have completed their ‘due diligence’ on the candidates and recommended their choice to the FA board.

So far discussions have been kept between the Club England quartet, with no candidates being discussed at last week’s board meeting.

Redknapp is expected to be the manager they approach, after which they would have to reach a financial settlement with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy.
