Brazil World Cup winner Roberto Carlos and former Chelsea midfielder Yuri Zhirkov as well as Eto’o.

Despite that, the team look unlikely to even qualify for the Europa League, meaning Kerimov will continue to splash the cash.

Eto’o is earning £8.7m per season and a similar figure could tempt Capello, despite protestations that the England job will be his last.
