Terry backed in racism row (but Capello plans to axe him for Spain clash)
Posted Sunday, November 06, 2011 by Dailymail

John Terry is unlikely to lead England out against world champions Spain at Wembley on Saturday even though manager Fabio Capello will include him in his squad.

The Chelsea captain has Capello's support while he contests allegations that he racially abused the QPR defender Anton Ferdinand. But while Terry will on Sunday be named in the squad to face Spain and Sweden, at Wembley three days later, Capello says he wants to rest his captain and experiment with different players.

England's manager insists that his decision has not been influenced by Terry's fight to clear his name in investigations by the Football Association and the Metropolitan Police.

A dramatic few days in the race row has seen Ferdinand deliver a statement to the FA on Thursday. The statement is understood to contain 17 points and to contradict Terry's account of what happened in the QPR game two weeks ago.
