It's assault: UEFA accuse Wayne Rooney as they ban him for first three Euro games
Nightmare: Fabio Capello must now plan for life without Rooney

It included written submissions from Rooney and Capello, as well as a DVD highlighting the fact that the player accepted referee Wolfgang Stark’s decision after he kicked Dzudovic in the back of the calf and left the pitch immediately.

But against Rooney was the fact that he had served a one-match ban for two yellow cards earlier in the qualifying campaign and, whatever Stark might have said to members of the English media, his written report must have been more damning.

An FA statement said: ‘Further to UEFA’s decision to impose a  three-match suspension on Wayne Rooney, the FA await the full reasons and will give full consideration to the decision internally before deciding on any response to UEFA or making any further public comment.’
