He's due to go next summer but some FA power brokers are thinking... carry on Capello
Posted Wednesday, October 05, 2011 by Dailymail

Fabio Capello has said this will be his last season in football and the FA have expressed a desire to see an Englishman succeed him as manager of the national team.

There are even some individuals inside the governing body, and some fairly influential ones at that, who would like to see the back of the Italian the moment qualification has been secured for next summer's European Championship.

It is a strange situation, one that leaves Capello's future, and the future of a fresh-faced England team now emerging under his guidance, clouded in uncertainty.

He's due to go next summer but some FA power brokers are thinking... carry on Capello
Clock is ticking: Fabio Capello's contract with England ends after Euro 2012

But assume for a moment that England secure the result they need in Montenegro this Friday and then enjoy a successful tournament in the summer. What happens then?

What happens if, compared to the English managers under consideration come July, Capello seems like the most attractive option for guiding Jack Wilshere and his international colleagues to the 2014 World Cup?

Senior officials at the FA say the decision to delay the appointment of a new manager until after Euro 2012 has nothing to do with Capello, insisting that it is simply to avoid 'a beauty parade' while the Italian is still in charge.

And some would probably resign from their positions before seeing Capello continue for two more years.
