Keane pleads to play! Skipper will lead line as Trap considers Cox call
Ready: Simon Cox is likely to play

But Trapattoni is understood to have called another team meeting at their base in the shipyard town on Wednesday night and made just one change from Sunday, with Cox coming in for Doyle.

Keane and Cox will both be asked to switch the midfield and lone striker roles and Aiden McGeady has been playing nearer the middle in training. Trapattoni has also asked Paul Green and Darron Gibson to be ready to play a part tonight.

If Ireland lose it will be the first time they have exited a finals after two games but Keane implored fans not to lose hope.

‘Everyone has written the script that Spain are going to beat us. But there’s certainly nobody in that Irish dressing room [who will] go into a game believing that there’s no question of winning,’ he said.

‘I never go into a game believing that I’m going to get beaten by anybody, whether they’re superior or not.’
