Ashley Cole becomes England's most capped player at tournaments ever against Ukraine and we should applaud him for that.
I remember in May 2000 when he made his Premier League debut for Arsenal, I went off to Euro 2000 thinking he was good enough for the England squad even though he had just started out.
He now has all those caps, seven FA Cups, three League titles and a Champions League. It is a fantastic achievement.
Man and boy: Cole made his debut for Arsenal in 2000 and is still going strong
There is no reason he cannot continue for the next World Cup, if not the European Championship in 2016.
He's still up there with the best left backs in the world - that's why Jose Mourinho tried to take him to Real Madrid two seasons ago. We don't appreciate Cole nearly enough and we're lucky to have him.
