Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has admitted the pressure is now on Spain to win their remaining Euro 2012 group matches following their 1-1 draw with Italy.
Cesc Fabregas salvaged a point for the reigning European champions after Antonio Di Natale gave the Italians the lead but Torres insists the result won’t hinder his side’s hopes in the competition.
“We could have won or lost. I would not say it's a setback, but is a result that could have been better.
"We have to win all of our remaining matches now. What matters is that Spain must win whatever the situation or the opposition."
Torres had a number of opportunities to win the game after coming on as a second-half substitute but was denied each time.
"[Andres] Iniesta played a big role in my chances but Buffon saved the game for Italy. We both had chances to win.
Instead it was former Arsenal midfielder Fabregas’ only goal of the game for the Spanish which left progression to the next round wide open. Torres was buoyant about the performances of his team mates following the draw.
"[Italy] became fatigued and the entry of [Jesus] Navas did a lot of damage. Iniesta found more space between lines and was the man of the match.”
