He was bitterly disappointed to be left out of the England squad for the Euro 2012 Championship, but Rio Ferdinand appears to be more than making up for it.

The footballer was pictured soaking up the sun during a holiday in Cyprus this week, as his teammates were departing for Krakow.

While the team are working hard in training camp, the 33-year-old was spotted reclining blissfully in a sun lounger, and cooling off in the pool at the Aphrodite Hills hotel in Paphos.

While he may be angry at the England squad management, Rio has made clear that he will be giving his teammates his full support.

He tweeted this week: 'Just so we dont get it twisted ere....i'll be in a pub somewhere supporting England this summer! Love the lads!'

But for now, the Manchester United player appears quite content to sit by the pool and sip Pina Coladas in the sun.
