SURPRISE PACKAGE ... Andrey Arshavin does not know how his Russia side will do
ANDREY ARSHAVIN admits he has not got a clue what Russia can achieve at Euro 2012.
They face the Czech Republic tonight as skipper Arshavin squares up to Arsenal pal Thomas Rosicky. And Arshavin admits Russia’s dark horses tag is fully deserved.
Arshavin was shipped out on loan to Zenit St Petersburg after losing his Gunners starting spot as Rosicky hit a rich vein of form.
Arshavin said: “Everyone knows what to expect from us. To put it simply, what lies in the Russian character. We can lose against every team and win against every team.
“We’ve joked about this with Tomas. I was saying on June 8, we’ll both wear No 10 on our backs and exchange handshakes and so on.”
Russia were the surprise package of Euro 2008 and reached the semi-finals. But Arshavin warned: “I think it’s better when you are not known. There is a certain under-estimation.”
