Portugal given wake-up call

Portugal suffered a shock 3-1 defeat at the hands of Turkey in their final warm-up game before Euro 2012.

Paulo Bento's side dominated the match for long periods but were made to pay for a series of missed chances and careless mistakes in defence.

Umut Bulut's opportunistic strike put Turkey in front before half-time and the same player made it 2-0 on 52 minutes when some poor play from Bruno Alves was clinically punished.

Nani quickly pulled a goal back for Portugal with a fine finish from Cristiano Ronaldo's pass, but they could not find an equaliser.

A late own goal from Pepe sealed the win for Turkey and left Portugal with plenty of work to do in the next week.

Bento's men face Germany in their opening Euro 2012 match before also taking on Denmark and Holland in Group B.
