Liverpool defender Glen Johnson is an injury concern for England after missing most of Thursday's training session with an infected toe.
Roy Hodgson will take charge of his first Three Lions match this Saturday against Norway in Oslo, as preparations for Euro 2012 gain pace.
Despite the 27-year-old looking to cement a place in the team, he lasted just three minutes at England's training base at the Etihad Stadium before having to head down the tunnel for treatment.
The injury has been described as "minor" by the Football Assocation and paves the way for recent call-up, and Anfield team-mate, Martin Kelly to win his first international cap.
The young defender has already played at Under-21 level, but this is his first call-up to the senior squad as the new coach experiments with his team.
Hodgson is already thin on defensive options, newly appointed assistant, Gary Neville, filled in at centre-back for the training session at Manchester City's stadium.
Danny Welbeck is another injury worry as he continues to struggle with an ankle injury picked up in the Manchester derby on April 30, and is therefore unlikely to feature this weekend.
There was some good news though as Scott Parker, who was feared to have picked up an injury that could rule him out of the opening games of the summer's tournament, resumed training.
