Sorensen: Denmark will be a threat at Euro 2012

Thomas Sorensen has insisted that his Denmark side will be looking to cause an upset at Euro 2012.

The Stoke City goalkeeper has already met up with his international team-mates ahead of this summer’s tournament, as they prepare with games against Brazil and Australia over the coming weeks.

But Sorensen knows the team still go in the competition as rank outsiders, with fellow Group B rivals consisting of Germany, the Netherlands and Portugal, despite impressive form during the qualification process.

Sorensen told the club’s official website: “It's going to be tough for us out there, and we are without doubt the big outsiders.

“I feel that we have a very good team though, and if we all play to our optimum levels and have that little bit of luck then you never know.

“It's a crazy game and we will go there looking to cause a stir or two. We had a few good results in qualification having beaten Portugal relatively comfortably.”

Sorensen was recently handed his 100th cap for his country after representing his country at a senior level since 1999, in career which has spanned five international tournaments.

Describing the milestone, he added: “It’s an absolute honour and privilege to represent your country in any game, let alone at a huge tournament like this.

"To have reached 100 caps for my country is an achievement that I am unbelievably proud of; and if I feature in this tournament then this will be my fifth time at either the Euros or the World Cup, which is also something to be proud of."
