O'Shea sits out training - Defender rested as he recovers from knock
John O'Shea: Has been rested by Republic boss Trapattoni

Republic of Ireland defender John O'Shea did not train with the squad on Monday as he continues his recovery from an ankle problem.

The Sunderland man has joined up with his team-mates in Malahide but did not work with them on the training pitch due to the ankle knock he picked up during his club's final game of the season against Manchester United earlier this month.

O'Shea has been cleared to feature at this summer's European Championship but is unlikely to be fit for Saturday's friendly against Bosnia-Herzegovina at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

Coach Giovanni Trapattoni has previously said he expects 31-year-old O'Shea to be available for Ireland's opening group game against Croatia on June 10th.

Keith Fahey and Kevin Foley, who have groin and hamstring problems respectively, trained in the gym on Monday, while captain Robbie Keane is due to arrive later, although there is little concern over his hamstring strain.
