Sunderland defender John O'Shea will join up with the Republic of Ireland's Euro 2012 squad next week.
The ex-Manchester United man suffered an injury scare and hobbled off in the first-half of his former's side win at the Stadium of Light on Sunday, provoking fears he would miss next month's finals.
But the 30-year-old aggravated an ankle injury he had sustained in the build-up to the final game of the season and scans have cleared him to join up with Giovanni Trapattoni's 23-man squad in Dublin next weekend.

A club spokesperson said: 'John suffered a knock to his ankle in training prior to the Fulham game, which he aggravated slightly in Sunday's game against Manchester United.
'He was taken off as a precaution and following positive results from a scan last night, he will meet up with the Republic of Ireland squad as scheduled next week.'
O'Shea, who has had a number of niggling injuries during his first year on Wearside, is one of Trapattoni’s most experienced players and a regular in the back four throughout their qualifying campaign.
The Waterford utility player will join up with the Ireland squad ahead of a home friendly against Bosnia.
'Ireland then play Hungary in Budapest before setting up camp in Poland where they will play Croatia, Italy and holders Spain.'
