Pedro: Barcelona attacker wants to be included in Spain's squad for the European Championship
Barcelona attacker Pedro is hoping to force his way back into Spain's squad for Euro 2012 after admitting he has experienced an inconsistent season.
Pedro started Spain's 2010 World Cup final victory over the Netherlands, but he was left out of Vicente del Bosque's last squad for the friendly against Venezuela in February.
The 24-year-old has struggled for form and fitness for Barcelona this season, but impressed during last weekend's 7-0 thrashing of Rayo Vallecano.
He now has three more games in which to press his claims for inclusion in Spain's squad for the European Championship and he is determined to grasp his opportunity.
Desire
"It's been an inconsistent season marked by injuries, but I'm back with desire, up to speed and gaining confidence to try and help us win the Copa del Rey," said Pedro.
"I will continue working at 100% to be in the Copa del Rey final and I would like to be at the European Championships as well."
Meanwhile, Pedro has paid tribute to Pep Guardiola, who is leaving his position as Barcelona coach at the end of the season to be replaced by his assistant Tito Vilanova.
He added: "The news about Pep's departure was somewhat painful for everyone, nobody expected it, but it's a decision that we must respect.
"I want to thank him for everything he has taught me and for giving me the opportunity to live the dream of playing in the first team. I wish him the best in whatever he does. I know he's a great coach."
Regarding the appointment of Vilanova, Pedro said: "Tito has some very similar ideas to Pep. It's fantastic news. We are all with him."
