Call time on England, Rio: Keown urges Ferdinand to retire from international football
Case for the defence: It's unclear whether Hodgson will take both Rio and Terry

'Rio's a big character who's done pretty well and you may want that in your squad.'

Keown does not think Hodgson will take Ferdinand and Terry, who is accused of racially abusing Rio's brother Anton, to Euro 2012.

He added: 'That's going to be up to Roy. I honestly don't think he's going to take both of them. That's why Roy is earning £3million-a-year to decide.

'I've been in lots of dressing-rooms where players didn't necessarily get on, but once you got on that pitch you played like big mates.'
