No hard feelings: Redknapp wished Hodgson well with the England job

Redknapp’s negotiations with Tottenham over a new club contract — his current deal has a year to run — stalled in February when the England speculation went into overdrive after Capello’s walk-out.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is expected to renew those talks at the end of the season.

The FA were keen to stress yesterday that Hodgson’s meeting was not an interview. The decision had been made to offer him the job prior to his arrival shortly before 3pm in a chauffeur-driven Mercedes. He left four hours later.
