Nani in talks about new Manchester United contract

The Portugal winger has two years remaining on his current deal, but is keen to commit his future to the club.

Nani was linked with a move to Spain after being left out of the starting line-up for last season's Champions League final against Barcelona, but has played an important role in United's title challenge this term.

'The manager has immense faith in me and that's all that matters,' the 25-year-old said.

'My agent is negotiating with the club on a new deal and things are going very well. I hope at the end of the season an agreement will be reached. Manchester United is my home.'

Nani added he had learned to get along with Sir Alex Ferguson, after enduring a difficult start to his Old Trafford career following his move from Sporting Lisbon in 2007.

'He is a great coach. For me, the best in the world. But I have trembled in his presence when he hasn't been happy,' he said.

'I remember some games when we had won by two or three goals and he still wasn't happy. It seemed like we had lost. He's not someone you want to argue with.'

News of the negotiations comes just days after it emerged United were in talks with Danny Welbeck about a new five-year contract.
