Mystery over missing Becks
MYSTERY ... David Beckham has an "assortment" of injuries

DAVID BECKHAM is at the centre of an injury mystery as struggling LA Galaxy bids to halt their disastrous start to the season.

Beckham has not trained all week since a bust-up with two team-mates and being taken off at half-time during last week’s miserable 3-1 home defeat by New England.

Boss Bruce Arena originally insisted it was his decision to substitute the ex-England skipper.

But now Arena claims Becks, 36, has an “assortment” of injuries and it is doubtful the midfielder will even travel for today’s clash with unbeaten Kansas City.

Defending MLS champions are bottom of the table after three games and desperate for a win. But Arena said: “We haven’t made a decision yet.

“David has an assortment of nagging injuries. It’s just a case of getting him the right kind of rest and gym work.

“I don’t even know the exact pecking order of the injury list. I’ll leave it at that. Our trainer’s dealt with a few things.”

Irish hitman Robbie Keane is ready to step in as dead-ball expert if Beckham does not make the trip.

Former Tottenham star Keane, 31, said: “It’s up to others now to take responsibility when David’s out.”

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry is MLS Player of the Month for March after bagging five goals and three assists in New York’s first four games.
