Capello wants to come back! Chelsea in pole position to snap up ex-England boss
Posted Sunday, March 25, 2012 by Dailymail

Fabio Capello is ready to return to England to manage in the Premier League.

The Italian quit as the England boss six-and-a-half weeks ago and his apparent willingness to return will alert Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich to the possibility of hiring him as a medium-term replacement for recently sacked Andre Villas-Boas.

Even though Capello will be 66 in three months’ time, sources close to him say he has no intention of ending his coaching career yet.

And he has set his sights on a club with thefinancial clout to create a squad capable of competing with the best in the long term.

One source said last night: ‘Fabio will be very happy to coach an English club as long as the project is an interesting one. That means the club will need to match his ambition and have the money to buy the players he would need.

‘Ideally, he’d like to coach for two more years and then perhaps spend a third year showing a younger manager the ropes before retiring.

‘What happened with the England national team would not prevent him from returning to the country — why should it? His record with England was good.’

Abramovich, looking to rebuild at Stamford Bridge after a season of frustration as the Villas-Boas project unravelled, could be tempted to tap into the Italian’s experience.
