It’s good chants for Ade truce
RETURN ... Emmanuel Adebayor

ARSENAL and Tottenham will issue a joint statement to fans ahead of Emmanuel Adebayor's first match at the Emirates since moving back to North London.

Spurs' Togolese striker, who spent more than three years at the Gunners, had abusive chants aimed at him in past fixtures between the two rivals.

Ex-England defender Sol Campbell has also been targeted after playing for both clubs in his career.

But the clubs have joined together to appeal to fans before this Sunday's Premier League clash.

They will ask for a focus on positive chanting towards their own teams.

It will be Adebayor's first match back at Arsenal's stadium since he joined Spurs on loan from Manchester City.

He angered Arsenal fans when he scored against them for City and ran the length of the pitch to celebrate in front of them.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister David Cameron last night insisted swift action was required to tackle any racism in football.

Cameron told a Downing Street anti-discrimination summit with football chiefs: "If everyone plays their role, then we can easily crush and deal with this problem."

A spokesman for the Kick It Out campaign said: "These discussions are welcomed. What we now wait for is action on the points raised."
