TOXIC - Roberts: England camp will be torn apart if John Terry is selected
COURT DATE ... John Terry

THE FA have been warned there could be a 'toxic' atmosphere in the England dressing room if John Terry goes to Euro 2012.

Terry has denied racially abusing QPR's Anton Ferdinand and his trial was yesterday set for July 9 which is after the Euros finish.

TOXIC - Roberts: England camp will be torn apart if John Terry is selectedBut Jason Roberts, the former Blackburn striker who has just joined Reading and is a well-known radio pundit, says Terry should be axed from the squad until the case is over.

He also insists boss Fabio Capello's argument that Terry must be judged innocent until proven guilty does not stand up as Anton's brother Rio was dumped by England before he was found guilty by the FA of missing a drug test in 2003.

In a series of tweets, Roberts said: "I have seen the Ferdinand case has been put back. On this basis I do not believe that the England captain should go to the Euros.

"Innocent until proven guilty is not always the case in football as Rio found out in his case. Also more importantly, believe me, the dressing room at the Euros could be toxic."

Terry's situation could be discussed at an FA board meeting later this month.

But it is understood Capello wants to take the Chelsea defender to the Euros as his leader.

All eyes are already turning to Stamford Bridge this Sunday when Terry faces Rio's Manchester United.

The Premier League say the pre-match handshake will go ahead — unlike last week when the FA cancelled it at the QPR v Chelsea cup game.
