War of the words: Terry and Ferdinand clashed several times during the bad-tempered game and there were a number of sharp exchanges
In a dramatic development on Wednesday night, it became apparent that England’s kit sponsors no longer carry a photograph of John Terry as captain on their official website.
Umbro prefer instead to feature a team picture taken when Gerrard was skipper, despite the fact that Terry remains one of their most high-profile clients.
In addition, the kit manufacturer no longer feature Terry, who is expected to play against Tottenham, on their website as part of the team of ‘Umbro players’.
A spokesman for Umbro said they were ‘unable to make any comment’ as to when the images of Terry were removed. It is believed, however, to have been recently.
