Fabio Capello has increased the pressure on UEFA to reduce Wayne Rooney's three-match ban at the European Championship.
The England manager is refusing to confirm publicly that Rooney will go to Poland and Ukraine if the length of his suspension is upheld at Thursday's appeal in Nyon.
Rooney is one of the star names of the tournament and UEFA's leading sponsors will be keen to see him there.
Appeal date: Wayne Rooney will learn his fate in Nyon on Thursday
But he is set to miss all England's Group D games because of the red card he received in Montenegro.
Capello will join Rooney in Nyon and has privately told the striker he will go to Euro 2012.
But when asked to state unequivocally that Rooney would be on the plane, the Italian said: 'I hope he will be OK for the third game.'
