Capello: I’ll still quit England

FABIO CAPELLO last night insisted he will definitely quit after Euro 2012.

Trevor Brooking, the FA's director of football, hinted the England boss could carry on after his £6million-a-year deal runs out.

But Capello, 65, who is in Kiev for today's Euro finals draw, maintained: "This is it for me as England manager — but I hope that at the end of my career will be one trophy.

"I hope the players have got the mental strength to go and win a tournament."

Brooking had said earlier: "Fabio's contract ends in the summer and the mindset is for change — but you never say never." But the Italian's response means England will have a new man in charge when the World Cup qualifiers kick off in September.

Spurs' Harry Redknapp is still firm favourite at 7-4 with bookies William Hill with FA bosses keen to appoint an Englishman.

The next nearest home-grown challenger is Newcastle's Alan Pardew at 10/1.
