GARETH BARRY has urged England to remember last year's World Cup disaster.
Qualification for Euro 2012 has been followed by a shock victory over world and Euro champs Spain and Tuesday's 1-0 win against Sweden.
But England qualified for last year's World Cup by winning eight games in a row — and were then hammered 4-1 by Germany.
Manchester City star Barry said: "Everyone knows the way we qualified last time, the expectations went through the roof.
"We flew through the qualifying group, didn't concede many goals and played some great stuff. But after the World Cup, we won't get too carried away.
"When it comes to the business end, the tournament, that is where you need to perform and get that winning habit.
"We can't say we are going into it as the best team in the tournament because we probably know we are not. The way the game went against Spain shows they are beatable on the day but they are a fantastic team."
February's home game against Holland is the final run-out before the expanded squad of around 30 is picked for Euro 2012.
That will then be trimmed to 23.
Barry added: "You are probably looking at 30 to 35 players who have got a realistic chance of coming into it."
