Aaron Ramsey has thrown his backing behind Wales players representing Team GB at the 2012 Olympics in London.

The Wales captain has followed compatriot Gareth Bale's lead by posing in the Team GB supporters' shirt for next year's Games.

The Football Association of Wales, along with their Scottish and Northern Irish counterparts, are opposed to their players appearing for Stuart Pearce's side as they fear that it will threaten their independence.

The Football Association of Wales, along with their Scottish and Northern Irish counterparts, are opposed to their players appearing for Stuart Pearce's side as they fear that it will threaten their independence.

But Tottenham winger Bale, the Wales Footballer of the Year, had previously stated his desire to be involved and the FAW have no legal basis to prevent him or Ramsey from being selected.

Arsenal midfielder Ramsey echoed Bale's sentiments in an interview with Four Four Two magazine, and the 20-year-old also posed in the blue jersey.

Ramsey told Four Four Two: 'If we have the opportunity to play, why not? You're representing Great Britain in the Olympics. Having the chance to win a gold medal doesn't come around very often.
