Praise me: Young celebrates after putting England on their way to reaching the Euro 2012 finals
Among those behind them was Phil Jones, making his international debut and demonstrating, just as Chris Smalling did, that he could do a job at right back even if his long-term future remains at centre-half and even if he was fortunate not to concede a penalty for a foul on Stevan Jovetic.
England started so well and went ahead in the 11th minute thanks to the combined efforts of Rooney, Walcott and Young.
It was Rooney who started the move, Walcott who provided a super cross and Young who got in ahead of Zverotic to score with a header at the far post.
Montenegro did at times look dangerous, but these England players were working hard for one another, not least on the flanks, where Walcott and Young ran tirelessly.
