FABIO CAPELLO is considering giving a shock England debut to right-back Kyle Walker in the crunch Euro 2012 qualifier against Montenegro on Friday.
Capello was at White Hart Lane on Sunday to see Walker become Tottenham’s hero with the winner – his first goal for the club – in the 2-1 north London derby triumph over Arsenal.
If Capello does go with Walker, the rookie faces a tough challenge as he will be facing up to Montenegro dangerman Mirko Vucinic, who Spurs looked at in the transfer window.
Signed by Juventus from Roma for £13.5m this summer, Vucinic scored the only goals of the game in Euro 2012 qualifying wins over Wales and Switzerland and is rated by many as one of the best left-footed players in Europe.
Capello’s regular right-back, Glen Johnson, is injured and in England’s last two fixtures, against Bulgaria and Wales, Manchester United’s Chris Smalling was preferred.
Smalling’s club team-mate Phil Jones and Manchester City’s Micah Richards are also available.
But Capello is understood to be seriously considering playing
