Danny Welbeck: England cliques are in the past
MIX 'N MATCH ... Welbeck says England players gel well before international matches

Danny Welbeck believes the days of cliques in the England squad are over.

Ex-England star Paul Scholes revealed in his autobiography that players used to sit with their club mates and rarely mingle with others.

But Welbeck said: "I have not felt that yet and hopefully I don't.

"I am good friends with Andy Carroll, I speak to him, and I haven't felt any of that club hatred yet.

"I am good friends with Micah Richards as well. All the lads are great. They have been very welcoming. They are not trying to push you to the side and there is a great set-up in the camp."

Welbeck also insisted Rio Ferdinand is far from finished.

The England vice-captain has been left out of the squad and is struggling to win back his place at Old Trafford.

However Welbeck said: "Everyone knows what capabilities he has. He is a great reader of the game. He is like a Rolls Royce of a defender.

"It is wrong to write him off."
