Jack Wilshere has been ruled out for up to three more months and warned his entire season could be wrecked if he attempts another premature comeback.

The Arsenal midfielder has been ordered to keep a protective boot on his injured ankle for six weeks and then return gently to full fitness.

Sidelined: Wilshere could be out for up three months

It means the 19-year-old will play no further part in England's Euro 2012 qualifying campaign and will not be available for the Gunners until November at the earliest.

'I can confirm I will be out for around two to three months,' revealed Wilshere on his Twitter account.

'I am working hard in the gym to stay fit and am gutted but I will be back stronger.'

The teenager has been plagued by pain in his right ankle since midway through last season. He played on, hoping that a summer of rest would resolve the problem but aggravated the injury in the Emirates Cup pre-season tournament.
