Capello laughed as he said: "He's really, really happy. It's nice. It's different. Probably something to do with his hair."

Rooney admitted this week the hair replacement has given him a new confidence and that he spends more time in front of the mirror.

He hit a hat-trick in last Sunday's 8-2 destruction of Arsenal and Capello added: "He has scored a lot of goals, which is a fantastic medicine for a forward."

The Italian also insisted he has a good relationship with Alex Ferguson, despite United's manager accusing the FA of treating his club like 's**t'.

Capello said: "When I ask him something, he gives me the correct answer every time."
