Fab: Don't mess about, lads
ARE YOU HAVING A LARF? ... England fool around in training

FABIO CAPELLO has told his England stars not to 'mess about' against Switzerland on Saturday.

The Italian boss warned the Three Lions against complacency and expects a win in the Euro 2012 qualifier to ensure the country stays top of Group G.

Capello took England's first training session yesterday morning ahead of the Wembley showdown.

And Aston Villa midfielder Stewart Downing, 26, revealed: "The manager has come in and said 'No messing about, we are here to win the game'.

"People will expect us to batter Switzerland as we beat them 3-1 away from home.

"Football is not like that and sometimes you go away and it is easier than being at home.

"I'm not sure how they will come and play. We have got to keep playing the way we have been, pass and move the ball and try to win the game.

"We were disappointed at the World Cup last year but the players have responded very well.

"We were under a lot of pressure and as a whole, the players have done really well."

And Downing admitted he has drawn inspiration from Villa team-mate Darren Bent.

After scoring his first international goal against the Swiss last September, 27-year-old Bent also found the net in the games with Denmark and Wales. Downing, who also saw his international career stall, said: "I think Benty was a little frustrated as he was scoring goals and not getting a chance.

"He was probably like me and thinking his chance had gone.

"But you never give up and always keep trying. I am back in the squad and Benty is in the team and scoring goals. You never know what is round the corner.

"When I was injured for a long time and missed a lot of football and England games, other people came in and took their chance. Credit to them.

"But personally, it wasn't good. I came back, got into a squad after my injury, it was a boost - and I wasn't in the squad again and I thought maybe my time had gone.

"The only thing I could do was play well enough to get back in."
