Surprise: Walcott can't believe his luck

'I was sharp warming up and I was sharp on the pitch. It was a high-tempo game out there. There were a lot of players who have played in the Premier League on that pitch.

'We wanted to be more effective going forward and if you score three goals that was the main thing. For me, it's been a long time to wait for my first appearance in a championships like this and it's great to come on and have an impact.'

Welbeck paid tribute to the speed with which Walcott assimilated himself into a game that ebbed and flowed in equal measure.
