Script:
Contrasting scenes in the capitals of Spain and Italy on Sunday after the final of Euro 2012.
In Madrid fans counted down the final few seconds of the match before their party began after a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Italy, David Silva, Jordi Alba, Fernando Torres and Juan Mata with the goals.
The results means Spain are the first nation to have won three sucessive major tournaments and also the first to retain the European Championship.
In contrast, Italian fans could only watch on in horror as the Azzurri were picked apart in the final by Spain.
Little had been expected of Italy heading into Euro 2012 but such a crushing defeat in the final must have be a bitter pill to swallow for the Italian fans after beating England and Germany to reach the final.
