The streets of Rome are being prepared for the excitement of the final of Euro 2012 between Italy and Spain.

Fans in the Italian capital enjoying scorching temperatures of around 40 Celsius.

Italy fans confident that their team will win.

"Let's always applaud Italy who made us enjoy ourselves during this European Championship. They brought us to the final and made us believe."

Workers have been putting their final touches to the fan zone area.

A huge screen built for the occasion with two smaller screens placed halfway through the Circus Maximus.

The area around the Coliseum and the Circus Maximus sealed off to traffic since early morning.

Meanwhile, Spanish fans who'd gathered in St. Peter's Square in the Vatican for Sunday's Angelus believe their side, after winning the World Cup, will be the ones crowned champions of Europe:

"Two teams will enter the football field. One of them will always be the World Cup champions, both going in and going out. Go Red!"

Philosophical that no matter what happens, no-one can take Spain's previous successes away from them.
