Intro:

England captain Steven Gerrard said on Saturday that he's confident that all of his squad will be drawing on their 'big game' experience for the quarter-final against Italy.

SOUNDBITE (English): Roy Hodgson, England manager:

"In particular the knockout stages - in the group stages - you always had an element of knock out involved becaus eyou realised if you didn't win your game then or get a result in your game then you could not get through to final stages so I don't think it is going to change our mentality particularly. (We) just need to make certain that we prepare for the match, that we are ready for the match and when we go on the field we are capable of doing what we set out to do."

SOUNDBITE (English) Steven Gerrard, England captain:

"Well I think they (the England squad) have played in big games throughout their career. The players that (who) haven't played in a quarter-final at this level - so they are well aware of how big the game is and what is required. The atmosphere has been superb in the squad and the confidence and the belief is there so it is just importnant that all the players seize this oporutinty and and this moment because from (my) experience they don't come round very often. So it is important that we leave eveyrthing out there (on the pitch) and we keep showing to everyone, all our doubters, and our critics out there that we are good enough to compete with the top teams at this level."
