Posted Sunday, June 24, 2012 by SNTV

Intro:

Citta the elephant completed her predictions on Saturday as to which teams will reach the semi-finals of the tournament.

Script:

She guessed Poland would win its first two group matches, both of which ended in 1-1 ties.

But her quarter-final predictions started on a different note, with the pachyderm correctly predicting victories for both Portugal and Germany, who are now in the Semi-Finals.

The elephant is one of several pretenders to a throne vacated by Paul the Octopus, who won fame by correctly predicting eight matches at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

British visitor Andrew Philpot from Suffolk ignored Citta's foretelling, although he acknowledged that penalties could be how England might fall.

SOUNDBITE (English): Andrew Philpot, zoo visitor:
(Asked about elephant's prediction of Italy winning against England): "No, no, no. It will be a tight game, we know Italy can defend really well, we know England can defend really well, when they want to. I would think it will go down to penalties and England will lose as usual (smiles). No, no, it will be a really tough game."

Citta also predicted Spain will win against France in Saturday's quarter-final, where she'll have another chance to prove that she is no melon, and she does know what she's zooing!!
